Exgine Network Configuration Help
Use front panel network settings If this board is coupled with an M50 exciter, all network information is configured from the M50 front panel display. For the M50 this setting must be set to yes, if this board is used in standalone mode without an M50 exciter, this setting must be set to no.

In M50 mode, the network information below is not used and does not need to be configured, with the exception of the E2X receive buffer depth, which is used in both modes.

Receive E2X protocol mode This setting selects between the standard iBiquity uni-directional and bi-directional E2X protocol modes. This must match the exporter (or other E2X transmitter) configuration.

Note: The Nautel E2X encapsulation mode can always be received regardless of this configuration setting.

Suggested default setting: UDP (uni-directional)

IP Address This setting configures this station's IP address statically. DHCP is not supported for this system. Ensure that the IP address matches the subnet address and is unique on this subnet. This IP address must be configured as the destination IP address in the exporter system.

Note:If the IP address is changed, this help system must be accessed with the new IP address after the system has been restarted.

Suggested default setting: 10.10.10.100

Netmask Check with the system administrator what the netmask address for your subnet is. If this is a closed system a class C netmask address of 255.255.255.0 will usually work fine.

Suggested default setting: 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway This setting configures the default gateway for the exgine system. This setting is only required if the exgine/exporter are not located on the same subnet.

Suggested default setting: 0.0.0.0

Exporter IP This setting is used to establish a retransmission request path back to the exporter, as well as, filter incoming E2X packets based on this source IP address. If an IP address of 0.0.0.0 is programmed retransmission request are sent via broadcast mode and no incoming packet filtering is performed.

Note:If the exporter/exgine are not located on the same subnet, ensure that intermediate routers do not perform Network Address Translation (NAT) in order to preserve the source IP address.

Note: In an E2X transport system, the exporter IP becomes the E2X sender's IP address instead.

Suggested default setting: 0.0.0.0

E2X Receive Buffer Depth In exgine mode, the exciter requires a receive buffer in order to remove any throughput delay variances in E2X packet delivery. The buffer depth is configured as E2X packets with a period of 92.8ms. This configuration should reflect throughput latency variations across the STL. A deeper receive buffer improves on air signal quality, since more retransmissions may be issued for lost data, but does increase the on-air delay of the HD data stream.

Note: Since the Nautel E2X encapsulation protocol distributes E2X data over time, this buffer must be configured to be at least 16 packets deep.

Suggested default setting: 25

Reliable HD Transport Test Mode Allows a test mode for reliable HD transport that randomly discards 1 in N packets in order to test the retransmission capbility of reliable HD transport on a per exgine basis.

Default setting: Ensure to turn this setting to disabled for normal operation.
